10 Worst Lions in Franchise History

The Detroit Lions are arguably the worst franchise in NFL history and, possibly, in all of sports. The franchise has made only 15 playoff appearances since 1935 and only 10 since the AFL-NFL merger in 1970. It has not been pretty in the Motor City from a football standpoint so finding really bad players was very easy.The hard part of this article was trying to find the 10 worst. One thing you will notice is that a lot of the players are from the Matt Millen era, which to most Lions fans is not surprising at all. With that being said, here is a list of the 10 worst Lions in franchise history.

    Dorothy (Cobb) Bekemeier Evansville, Ind. Dorothy (Cobb) Bekemeier, 87, of Evansville, passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at West Park Rehabilitation Center. She was born October 12, 1926 in Evansville to John Robert and Marie (Sachs) Cobb. Dorothy worked as the Church Secretary at First Avenue Presbyterian Church for over 50 years, retiring in 2010, where she was an active member. She enjoyed crocheting, crafts, clabber and crossword puzzles. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister who will be missed by all. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Bekemeier; and brother, William Cobb. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Stremming (Brent), of Evansville; granddaughter, Kay Ketcham (Randy); grandson, Kurt Stremming (Sylvia); great grandson, Javon Gantt; and brother, Charles E. Cobb (Sue). Thursday, March 13, 2014 at Ziemer Funeral Home Central Chapel, 626 N. First Ave., Evansville, IN 47710. Friday at the funeral home with Rev. David Feagan officiating. The family would like to thank the staff at West Park Rehabilitation Center for their kind and loving care. Flora Cooney Buss passed away Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Pine Haven Nursing Home. A private service was held for Flora at Sunset Memorial Park on Tuesday morning, March 11, 2014. She was born in Evansville, Ind., on August 31, 1924, the seventh child of George and Lettie (Yates) Cooney. She married her country bumpkin, Robert L. Buss, on May 6, 1946, who preceded her in death in 1997. They celebrated 51 years together. She is survived by her children, Robert L. Buss, Jr. and Richard (Susie Mattingly); grandchildren, Rebecca, (Andy) Merkley, Robyn (Kenny) Clark and Raven L. Buss; great grandchildren Max, Oliver and Cash Merkley and MacKensey, Jenna and Emmett Clark; brother, Earl “Tom” (Louise) Cooney; sister, Ermie Hilton; niece and best friend, Juanita Burkes (Jim Boyer) and several nieces and nephews. Flora was a homemaker, an avid reader and loved working on the family tree. Denning Mount Vernon, Ind. Rita L Denning, 54, of Mount Vernon, Ind., passed away on Monday, March 10, 2014 at Deaconess Hospice in Evansville. She was born July 17, 1959 in Mount Vernon, the daughter of Leslie and Marge (Brazier) Cox. She Married Michael Denning on April 1, 1978. She was a home maker, a devoted wife, mother, and mamaw. She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. Rita is survived by her husband of 36 years, Michael Denning; her children, Bill Denning (Kari), of Mount Vernon; Sara Wright (Steve), of Birdseye; Tara Denning (Chris Neaveill), of Poseyville; and Charlie Denning (Skylar), of Mount Vernon; five grandchildren, Kaiden, Ava, Reagan, Jaylie, and Kendall; her mother, Margie Cox; five brothers, Kenny Cox (Ann), Ronnie Cox (Linda Rawlins), Dale Cox (Hank), Darryl Cox (Sharon),Terry Cox (Rose Crum); and a sister, Doris Barker (Mitch), all of Mount Vernon. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Holland, 31, of Chandler, passed away Monday, March 10, 2014 at his residence in Chandler. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Noble Satkamp; grandparents, Paul Gene and Louise Holland, and uncle, Dean Satkamp. David is survived by his parents; children, Cliff (Susan) Pinder, Emily (Andrew) Hart and Sean Jeffries; brothers, Dan and Scott (Brenda) Jeffries; grandchildren, Lauren (Marco) Villi, Kylie, Nicole and Joshua Pinder, and Noah Jeffries; and the mother of his children, Sherrie Jeffries.
